On this bike ride you will experience Bangkok behind the scenes and see areas of the metropolis that only few travelers find. Among other things, you will be guided by narrow alleyways in “Little Chinatown”, through the Khlong Toey market and through slums. At the end you get to challenge your balance on the narrow paths over the klongs (canals) in Phra Pradaeng, also called the lungs of Bangkok.

 Bicycle tour in Bangkok

The surroundings here are green and lush, the air is fresh and the birds are singing in the palm trees. Bangkok has many faces – and you will NEVER forget this experience.

The bike route is flexible, so it is not exactly the same every day. You do not need to be in particularly good physical shape to participate, but expect to be biking between 20-30 kilometers during the approximately four to five-hour tour. Some will find it a little tough. If you wish, you can borrow a helmet free of charge before the tour starts – contact your bike guide.

All year round. The best period is during the winter months from November to March, when it is dry and the temperature is at its lowest (27-30 degrees Celsius). During the rainy season from June to October be prepared for short heavy rain showers. The hottest season is March to May, when the temperature is between 30-35 degrees. Year round the humidity is high.

The tour starts at Sukhumvit Road by Tara Hotel, where we meet up at 8 am/1 pm. You must arrange your own transportation to the meeting point (not included in the price). You can take the Skytrain to Phrom Phong station, about 10 minutes walk from there. Once all participants have arrived, the guide will go through the tour in English. We get the bikes (without gear as the route is flat) and start the tour by biking away from the busy roads and in through the lively Khlong Toey market.

The market offers a colorful mix of Thai and Chinese goods year round and you get to see impressive pyramids of fresh pineapples and cackling chickens in bamboo cages. The route takes us through slums, where you will see the backside of the metropolis. Biking through “Little Chinatown” the kids will wave excitedly, shouting “hello” of the rare sight of foreigners biking. When we have crossed the river in a longboat, we get to Phra Pradaeng, the “lungs of Bangkok”, where we will bike around the narrow cement paths which are built on stilts in the klongs (canals) and create an extensive path system. Here the towers are replaced by palm trees and the noise of the traffic is now birds singing – a completely different side of Bangkok than most travelers experience.

The bike tour ends back at the meeting point around 1 pm/6 pm.

For an extra charge you can also choose a morning tour at 09 am, ending approximately at 3 pm. On this trip we will stop along the way for a tasty lunch. This tour is not completed during weekends.

On the weekends and for an extra charge you can choose a tour starting at 09 am and ending at approximately 4 pm. On this extended trip, you will also visit a floating Thai market.

Many of our guests rate this trip as one of the absolute highlights during their trip to Thailand. Because we think so too, we have made the following video from the trip.
